Today (June 10, 2025), Mr. Napinthorn Srisanpang, Deputy Minister of Commerce, said that the Department of Intellectual Property has announced the registration of a new Geographic Indication (GI) item, namely Mangosteen in the Betong Mist, as the 4th GI product of Yala Province, following the products Hin Bannang Sata bananas, Sadet Nam Yala durians, and Betong Shogun oranges, which were previously registered as GIs. He is confident that after receiving the GI registration, the product will be better known and will generate more income for mangosteen farmers, from the current income of more than 62 million baht per year.
